Dear Sport friends,
The Brazilian Canoe Confederation (CBCa) is pleased to invite your Federation to be represented at SLALOM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2007, to be held in FOZ DO IGUASSU (PR), from September 19th to 23rd, 2007.
It is possible to find most information concerning the course, training competition provisional schedule and other at www.foz2007.org.br. Do not hesitate to get in touch for any other clarification or support through cbca@cbca.org.br.
You should also proceed entries, arrival/departure and boat transportation information through www.foz2007.org.br.
Training reservation through the www.foz2007.org.br is necessary in case your team wishes to train before September 8th – Official Training Period.
The deadline for numerical entries is August 5th and nominal entries deadline is September 5th, 2007.

SLALOM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2007
FOZ DO IGUASSU – PR – BRAZIL
September 19th to 23rd, 2007
- Course: Itaipu White Water Canal, by Itaipu Bi-national Hydroelectric (IB)
- Water control: The Itaipu reservoir provides 14.000 m³/s for electricity generation. There will be a steady flow providing 12 m³/s for canoeing competition purposes. The flow will be set by the start inlet and kept constant during the competition.
Competition Area
- Warm-up area: Upper Lake within determined bounds limited by buoys
- Cool-down area: Lower lake within bounds limited buoys
- Course length: 375 meters
- Course Drop: 8,22 meters
- Flow: from 6 to 12,5 m³/s
- Width: 15 m
- Competition course: 250-280 meters chosen from the total course
Accreditation, Training and competition
- Accreditation center: At the parking of IB Tourist Reception Center. Data and pictures must be registered at www.Foz2007.org.br prior to the race for the accreditation card which will be mandatory to enter beyond the IB Tourist Reception Center.
- Official Training Period: From September 8st to 17th, free of charge (from 16th to 18th – competition), according to training groups to be divided depending on the total number of boats.
- Unofficial Training: reservation is mandatory through www.foz2007.org.br before September 8th.
- Programme for competition: The competition will be open exclusively for national teams, open to all federations with a maximum of 3 boats per event per federation. Qualification races should be on September 19th and 20th -Wednesday and Thursday, Team Races on Friday 21st and semifinal/finals on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd.
GENERAL INFORMATION
- How to get to Foz do Iguaçu (IGU), PR: by a one and a half hour flight from São Paulo (GRU). Mainly B-737 or A-319/320 planes. The airport is 20 minutes from downtown and 40 minutes from the course. Downtown is between (same direction) course and airport.
- Accommodation possibilities: Foz do Iguaçu is the 3rd most visited place in Brazil for tourism. It is a city of 300.000 people, located in a triple frontier with Paraguay and Argentina. There are hotels that range from US$ 20 to US$ 75 (4 stars) per person per day, including breakfast. Meals can be found from US$ 5 to US$ 20 per meal (lunch or dinner).
- Climatic conditions in this area in September: normally from 16º to 26° C - 10 rainy days (last year from 12º to 22º C, average
16,7º C – 15 rainy days).
