Boats and Accessories Inoculation - Golden Mussel
Due to the presence of the exotic “golden mussel”, Limnoperna fortunei in the Paraná River area, including the Itaipu reservoir, and as part of the control over its propagation being exercised by the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant, all boats, paddles, spray skirts, helmets and accessories must be inoculated on entry and on exit.
The control procedure consists of a shower of chlorinated water, at a concentration of 1.5 ppm. The shower will be applied by organization and teams will have to take the boats and accessories to the procedure, before any contact with water.
The procedure is to avoid dissemination of the “golden Mussel” or any other exotic mollusc species through either coming in or being taken out with boats.
